There was a bug in my JavaScript that screwed up making new CCCP strips. Sorry.

I’m caching backgrounds now, but some of the older strips have images that are now 404’d. If you have an older strip that you made that now has a missing background, e-mail or leave a comment and I’ll replace the missing image with whatever you’d like.

(Note that the caching happens off-line; the caches don’t get updated until midnight Pacific or so.)

LiveJournal spazzed again when I changed the URLs in the CCCP feed from PHP to CGI. Sigh. Well, think of these as summer reruns...

So, I rebuilt CCCP from the ground up this week. Changes include:

• Rewritten Maypole-style (but not with Maypole). I’m hoping this architecture change will allow enhancements to be incorporated much more easily. I never was happy with the original PHP code.
• No longer requires registration to create strips! Let’s just hope the spammers don’t find it.
• Allows a variable number of panels when constructing comics.
• The commentary box allows Wiki-style formatting of text. This is also something I worry about, but what the hell.

A new Condensed Comic will be up as soon as mia_d sends me the dialogue to typeset, so it should be available tomorrow.

Sssssh… don’t tell anyone, but I’ve posted a frame from it as a CCCP template.

I was decrufting my hard drive and came across the original artwork for the Battlefield: Earth comic that mia_d drew a while back. I figured it was worth making into a CCCP template.

As usual, kap_ has done a marvelous job with CCCP, including creating a self-referential background. I considered using a CCCP template graphic as a background for another, but never could build up the nerve. So, go vote him up.

Also, is anyone interested in having their own custom templates? I’m considering adding support for off-site templates but would like to see if it would be used before investing the effort.
